Description
"Virrasztó - táláván is Márton Kalász's thirty-first book of poems. Similar to his last volume, Annyi ábrándunk, published in the summer of 2019, the texts this time also show a uniform form: we can still read sonnets of fourteen (in exceptional cases fifteen) lines, not divided into stanzas, in a broader sense. Kalász is an extremely conscious poet: he revisits the topics that are important to him again and again. Most of his new poems were written in the distressing situation of the coronavirus epidemic. His eighth-floor apartment in the Órmezé housing estate, like Hölderlin's tower room, became the central motif of this volume, appearing as a kind of microuniverse: the place where the poet can stand out from everyday life and observe and interpret the crisis more comprehensively. The book, which contains around sixty poems, explores the unique paths of meditative intellectualism in the author's usual way. He does not necessarily pay attention to keeping up with the reader's interpretation. difficulties, but at the same time it presents a metaphysical experience of freedom that stimulates one to follow. The arbitrarily formed word order and the fragmented sentence structure make these poems an example of postmodern diffusion of meaning. In other words: the poet transcends all linguistic barriers, going far beyond the original levels of interpretation - and this is exciting."
