A trip in the history book of Magyar Rock with Gyula Papp

Gyula Papp is a well-known rock musician, composer-pianist, and one of the most prominent masters of the Hammond organ in Hungary. And although he is a kind of "gray eminence" as a keyboard player, he is a defining figure in the Hungarian pop music scene. He is a founding member of the Mini, Skorpió, and Dinamit bands, but as a creator and performer he has contributed to the albums of Ferenc Demjén, Levente Szörényi (solo albums and István, a király), Zorán, Zalatnay, Miklós Varga, Fecó Balázs, P. Mobil, etc. He turned 65 in the last days of November 2016. On the occasion of this milestone anniversary, József Máthé 'Fiery' has been holding the microphone of the celebrant for the past year, and has produced a report book with him, in which he remembers the important stages of Gyula Papp's life and profession in a light and entertaining style, yet giving an authentic picture of the development of Hungarian pop music from the heroic era of rock in the 60s and 70s to the present day. The 27 chapters of the book are also documented by photographs. The last few pages, entitled "That's why there are good friends", are a collection of a few thoughtful eulogies, in which the above-mentioned artists - Ádám Török, Demjén, Szörényi, Frenreisz, Vikidál, Charlie, Ildikó Keresztes - as well as good friends - such as Károly Szerencsés - historian, István Mikó - actor, Zoltán Szőcs - writer, Lajos Kertész - pianist and teacher - praise Gyula Papp. The book is accompanied by a CD (glued to the back, inner cover in a polyethylene case), which is also a comprehensive reflection of this nearly half-century-long rock music career. The disc contains 16 tracks, in which the aforementioned artist colleagues and friends are also either co-authors or performers.
