Rum diary

Based on the novel of the same name by Hunter S. Thompson, the film stars Paul Kemp, a conflicted, alcoholic journalist. While drinking in a bar, he realizes that most of his problems are caused by the excessively noisy and nervous city of New York, so he decides to travel to Puerto Rico and write for a local newspaper. Rum is cheaper than water on the island and Paul soon integrates himself completely among the rum-soaked natives, and he also falls in love with the bomber Chenault, who, unfortunately, is already engaged to a businessman with dubious business dealings, Sanderson. When Sanderson commissions him to write about him, Kemp is faced with a choice: either bow down and clear the corrupt businessman's name or air his dirty laundry.
